Pros

The best reason to work for J&J is that is it s solid company to work for because of their products in the health arena. They do care about the people that they make their products for as well as provide money and supplies to areas around the world affected by natural disasters.

Cons

No room for upward growth. management is very top heavy. They lay people off and rarely do you see management laid off. There are many managers with nobody reporting to them at all. Why are they a Manager? IT is difficult to grow your career here if you are not in management. It is always amazing how the managers can easily manage to find growth at J&J yet the non management employees get a song and a dance when asked why they do not have the same opportunities available to them. The credo results conducted for 2008 was the worst results ever recorded and Management still doesn't get it why the employees are unhappy.

Pros

The wide reaches of the company provides potential opportunity to advance careers. The name J&J still appears as respectable in the community-with exception of employees. They offer modest financial incentives as compared to the industry standards. The company as a whole is fairly stable but that does not apply to various divisions.

Cons

Unstable market and the market dynamic changing for the worst, if business demands the headcount to be reduced-so be it. They no longer work to find "displaced" individuals jobs within the network of companies. Many of the divisions no longer value employees. Contrary to company self-promotion, questionable ethics for self preservation run strong in J&J during this time of economic crisis.

Pros

The credo as an operational foundation provides clear guidance on how we want to conduct business on all levels. Diverse operating companies unified in one corporation -- helps in financial risk mitigation, also helps provide abundance of opportunities for mobility and development, can leverage expertise in virtually every field.

Cons

Very large corporation can leave you feeling like a cog in the giant machine -- sometimes the upper management behavior contributes to that. Fiefdoms are present. Job demands can be high and sometimes the compensation doesn't feel in line with the expectations. Management often leaves employees feelings as though they should be grateful for being employed vs. thanking and compensating them for the contributions that they make. It is often feels like decisions are driven by ego and power plays vs. what's right for the customer or business.
