Pros

Great benefits and compensation, thanks to the union representation.

Cons

Senior leadership makes unreasonable demands of lower level (KPCO) staff, and allows MDs/DOs latitude for work life balance. The MD levels are working 3-4 days a week seeing 24 patients a day, but mid level providers are required to work 5 full days seeing the same volumes. RNs and MA/LPNs are treated similarly. This company's management continues to pull in salaries topping one million dollars per year (for running a non profit company) and are never visible visiting clinics, staff, or work locations to see how their decisions actually impact patients and staff.

Pros

The benefits are very good compared to academic places, comparable with Inova and MedStar in the area. Advanced EMR, Epic, and access to UPTODATE, Dragon and etc.

Cons

They don’t have enough specialists and are trying to manage everything by their PCPs. While I believe many PCPs in KP are doing great job compare to other companies that referrals are very easy but I do believe that many patients can not get a required care due to the restrictions of referring patient to higher level of cares. At the same time, the panel of specialists are full with complicated cases.
