Good experieance with the company in a remote location in Colorado. Was chanllenge, and helped me learn a lot over the summer

Pros

I have had a very rewarding career so far. I have been promoted numerous times in a short time frame. Kiewit will load you up with as much responsibility as you can handle. There are no set timelines for promotions. It's up to you to show that you are ready for more. The people are great. If you are young, you will make lots of friends and genuinely have a good time. The stock program is amazing. It makes it very difficult to ever think about leaving the company.

Cons

You must move all over the US from job to job approximately every year. If your spouse doesn't move with you (which most don't) you only get to go home every 3rd weekend for a 3 day weekend. Most of upper management has poor family lives because of the immense strain the lifestyle puts on them. Raises and most other compensation (going home every 2nd week vs. 3rd week) are based strictly on economic situation not on what the employees actually deserve.

Pros

For those who are willing to work hard and work long hours there is a lot of opportunity in the company to move up quickly and be compensated accordingly. Compensation is performance based, there are some very young individuals in the company who are already project managers and very well paid.

Cons

You have to make some pretty large sacrifices to work for Kiewit. You will be required to move on average once every couple years. The hours are very long, 11-12 hour days are average on a jobsite, you will sometime have to work more, weekends also. Retention rate within the company is horrible, most new hires don't last more than 3-4 years before getting burned out and finding something else.
