Pros

You would really enjoy working with MSCI if you enjoy large amounts of data -- this is in a very broad spectrum which include collection, checking and analysis. Moreover, the job environment is quite relaxed compared to other investment analytics and financial institutions. Although, there are high pressure for work accuracy, it is manageable, especially if you are very open and enthusiastic about learning new things and processes. A very important part of working in MSCI is that you have a strong interest in finding the use and impact of your work to the customer.

Cons

If you are not comfortable with processes, this is not the work environment for you. Moreover, if you are not the type of person who likes to pick on the smallest details, then MSCI may not be the advisable working environment for you.

Worst company ever!

Pros

Good salary and compensation package (Life insurance, pension fund payment, bonus, 1 month extra payment, high salary). Very nice office environment.

Cons

Fully controlled, no way to be creative and come up with new ideas. Terrible internal procedures ("be bulletproofed") ZERO INTERNAL CAREER OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!! From emerging countries, there is NO WAY TO MOVE to developed location To get a higher level position, it's easier to leave the firm and apply to the position from outside than be promoted. No real life as you have to be in the office day and night.

MSCI Killed the RMG Star

Pros

Riskmetrics was a start-up inhabiting the body of a publicly traded financial firm. It was a magnet for people who loved finance but weren't big fans of Wall Street's cultural rot. Working there was a privilege.

Cons

- Compensation was not good, and they often renegged on compensation promises. - MSCI snuffed out many of the best aspects of the culture when they made the acquisition. It became less innovative, and people who were once empowered entrepreneurs were turned into drones.
