      1. The Morgan Stanley DNA 2. Extremely profitable and scalable business model 3. Encouraging regulatory landscape and changing preferences in institutional investment towards increased sophistication in investment process and risk management makes MSCI's future a compelling story

      1. Risk averse culture 2. Roles in the offshore centers are backoffice-ish in nature

      good for old boys club, not good for anyone else

      Pros

      Good office locations, good benefits, access to leading edge financial research, access to clients where you can network. Indices business is a cash cow.

      Cons

      MSCI strategy to create shareholder value is to build low cost operations in low cost countries like India, Mexico, Budapest and Oklahoma. There is a lack of trust in staff. Onerous process driven culture inhibits creativity. Seniority resides with former Morgan Stanley guys who have no new ideas and aren't going anywhere. Overall it's a depressing environment.

      - reasonable pay (not comparable to the banking industry) - opportunities to get promoted (due to high turnover) - good work-life balance
