      Insensitive Management - Lots of work for low pay

      Pros

      You get to meet lots of people! Typically (If you are in a busy area) surrounding restaurants will offer benefits and discounts in exchange for recommendations. The travel benefit is another obvious perk. If you work second or third shift, you have minimal contact with management. This makes the job less stressful.

      Cons

      Management tends to be snooty. At Front desk, the expectations are high with little remuneration. The Management jobs are good and have decent pay, consequently the turnover is low within management making advancement opportunities minimal at best.

      The starting pay is alright, and you will be reminded that there is good in the world with this job. You learn how to deal with people and discover exactly how far your "limit" is. It helps you learn how to multitask and trains you to work in a fast-paced environment...

      Cons

      ... At the same time, there will always be something or someone who reminds you that working with people is a hassle in itself. It may make you re-think ever working in customer service or with people, in general. Pay doesn't quite match up with the work you're required to do, but it's a job nonetheless. Associates complain endlessly about upper management and how we can't do anything about the way they run the hotel (incompetent).

      Focus is on guests, not the employees who take care of guests

      You get to meet many different people from all over the world.

      Cons

      You do the job of 2 or 3 people for very low pay. You'll hear criticisms but very little praise. Communication is minimal and incomplete. High turnover.
