Not worth the hourly pay

Pros

good opportunity for those who seek minimum experience in the working industry. has great benefits for employees, and somewhat of a notion for advancement on some Marriott properties

Cons

The upper management treat the employees like the don't exist, like they do not matter, and like they are ONLY hourly employees. They hire managers with no experience, so the structure is completely bad from the top to the bottom

Pros

Easy to move from one hotel to another within the company. With many of the locations in the US being corporate ran the transfer ability is simple and for managers they even pay for the moves up to $4000 in some cases and more for longer range moves.

Cons

Hiring process seems to be a little skewed at times. There used to be a birage of interviews to go through and now if someone likes an applicant it only takes a nod from the general manager to push that candidate through. With the general manager not being fully aware of the persons qualifications, it can be a detriment to establishment when they are waived through the process.

Pros

Good hours. For the most part they'd allow time off when needed. Holiday party that, despite being during work hours on work property, was pretty fun. Turkeys for the holidays was pretty nice.

Cons

Work long hours for little pay. Managers sit on their butts all day (or take naps in guest rooms during business hours, to which the housekeepers have to clean AGAIN). Hiring buddies takes precedence over advancing employees with seniority. Advancing family members to higher management positions, while competent employees who've worked there longer and harder are passed over. If you're not buddy-buddy with higher management, you won't go anywhere in the company.
