Pros

Working with new MS technology You like the safety of a large Co with few real competitors

Cons

Terrible place for IT people, they don't value IT workers You will only work with MS technologies (bad for IT people) You will be subject to incompetent middle managers, who will control your career You will have to pretend VISTA didn't suck Food served on campus is horrible You will be laid off first or replaced with cheap overseas labor Co stock is a joke

Pros

Once upon a time it was a company that encouraged people to think outside the box. This spirit drove the company to it's high level. During that time we as a company acted as one company, with all groups pulling together into a single unit. In the past the compensation was an exceptional piece of what made it fun to work at Microsoft. However at the same time the ability to influence products, change the direction of MS Services and contribute to making customers better was a critical factor in the "fun" of working at Microsoft. Sadly that is no longer the case.

Cons

It is now a big company - and the pay hasn't really grown as fast as the orgizational profits. Its sad that the joy of working at Microsoft is now gone. I've been with the company more than 10 years and during that time have watched the fun factor drip out of my job. During that time i have held three or four other positions within the company. In every case the reality of where we are is consistent. Our field teams don't communicate as well as they should. Our corporate teams don't communcate as well as they should. Sad, all the way around.

Pros

Decent pay and stock options Free drinks Nice campus

Cons

Management constantly changes, often for the worse. I was reorged roughly every 1.5 years during my 5+ year time at the company. Each time goals would change and large amounts of work would just be scrapped. They boasted remote work for so long and then caved like every other company trying to force employees back to office after many moved away because they kept promising remote work was there to stay. Ethics and morals are punished, where being a mindless yes man who pay no mind to user satisfaction or privacy is rewarded. Very ableist culture, they gloat about how many people with disabilities they hire but they shove them all into teams that go no where that have minimal contact with rest of company. Extra terrible for neurodivergent people as not being able to follow the companies hive mind of thought will get you punished time and time again.
