Good Work. Bad Culture. Favoritism on Top - for Bangalore location based on my experience.
Pros
Work is good, but people are involved more in politics then delivering the good software. Work complexity is not difficult but Managers are too outdated, for them its a rocket science. For a developer, who love challenging work, work side is a huge disappointment. There are very few people who are really working, rest of them are eating on their work. But every one looks like they are working 24*7, If you can do "Yes Boss", and if you are good at show businesses, self praising, you can easily survive. You can earn credits and wonderful salary hikes. You should be available for 24/7. If you know the so called "Socialization" You can easily eat with out doing anything substantial. You can easily postpone your time lines, after a while, the task will be termed invalid. If you have developed a small working software , which would take your 2 month, you can easily eat for building that software for years. BUT if you love developing wonderful software, If you find difficulty in saying "Yes Boss" to each and every thing, If you lack that so called socialization skill, If you believe that your work and performance would bring you success in this company, Then No. .. If you dont keep your bosses happy, then your work will be completely ignored as if it is not developed at all. If you check in the code, it will be returned back saying that its not complete. Inside the company, every thing personnel. If you dont keep them happy, they would not let your code out. if the functionality is critical, your code will be out by another person's name. If you dont agree for it, your manager would postpone that requirement to another release, another person write a small code may it be buggy or copy of your code or what ever that code be released and You would be blamed and questioned. You have two managers, One in India and one in US. Key to success are only the 2 managers, for whom you would be working. Keep them happy and you would be happy. Keep them happy on ANY COST, may it be extending your business trip over weekend to roam around in Mumbai with your boss, No matter if you are a woman,Your boss can still expect this from you. Or if you can not do this, then Be ready to write a wonderful code and copy paste it in your manager's computer so that he can commit the code by his name. Dont stay late, But go home and work from home through out the night. Your boss can question you 7 AM in morning, for the task which the US Boss has given you 3:30 AM of India Time. when you would be sleeping, You are expected to complete the task , 3:30 to 7 AM have 3.5 hours, which have been given to you to complete the task. By the time you wake up, your task deadline are over and you missed your deadline. so now you have to handle this situation with your boss 7 Am in morning. You have to keep both of the managers happy. All such things are open. They have clear principle - "Work : you are doing for company, What you are doing for us?" If you cant do even this to you managers Then be ready Pack your begs, You may survive for one year or one month. depends upon your own luck. .. You can be fired by any of the managers, If indian managers nominate you for promotion but if that bring complexity to the US manager, that can also ensure your last day at the company. Means you don't know from where who can bite you, Don't do so good, Don't expect fast growth, just stay where ever you are. and relax. Lastly if you make them angry, chances are that they will not give you proper documents after your resignation. So you cant prove that you resigned. They some how want to destroy your career and wanna communicate this to your next employer that they kind of fired you. There are many internal systems to complain but Everyone is naked in the bath.. Keep your boss Happy, Live Happy, Work or Dont work, Just keep a statement ready and you can survive. .. One more thing - if you are not afraid of your boss, that is still fine, but if you are not afraid of your contractors or the service providers , then you are in hell. They are clear - Employees can be sacrificed for the contractors , So actually no matter you are their client, but you better keep them happy, else you dont see any future here.
Cons
Cons written above, They will pay you high, but then job stability can be a serious problem. so make your mind before you take a decision on joining. If you have any other offer in hand, Go for another offer.
