If going into Payroll BEWARE.....enter at your own risk!!

Pros

-Utilize ADP v5 -Very nice people -Great location -Compensation is good -Rather young workforce (hot chicks lol) -Looks good on resume

Cons

-Outdated payroll processes and limited ADP system -Some managers are grandfathered in when they have no management/leadership skills difficult to balance work/life (dont get me wrong they are for it, but you cant because you will fall back on work) -The 18 month provision - Must stay where you are for 18 months in order to move around from within MSSB. So no "get yer foot in the door" -Not really up for change or innovations-eg; revamping/streamlining/updating processes -Stagnant workplace - very hard to move around especially in Payroll dept.

Pros

Compensation is among the best on Wall Street and the firm has an incredible global platform. Just working for the firm, you can get into a lot of meetings that you wouldn't necessarily otherwise. I have a great financial toolkit after 3 years there, which is saying a lot considering I was a science major in college.

Cons

The downsides listed here are not unique to Morgan Stanley - they are applicable to any investment banking analyst position; the hours are long and a lot of it might be "face time", where you are simply sitting at your desk with nothing to do. The work-life balance is really tough to manage....so don't expect to do much outside of the office.

Global company with lots of opportunities. Competitive environment with opportunities to excel and be rewarded. Lateral and vertical movement available.

Cons

Big and beaurocratic with uncertain job security in non-sales roles. Upper management tends to micro manage. The company is going through a difficult process of transformation and finding clear identity.
