Pros
The salaries are competitive, facilities are great, benefits are generous. Some of the managers are extremely bright, talented individuals. Everyone is very nice, but that can be similar in other investment banks. The people really make a difference between enjoying your work and hating it. Many of the young people share similar characteristics, so they can be your friends as well as your colleagues. There is room for personal growth, but you must be aggressive. Right out of college, the salary is around 60k for analysts in the operations department, and expect about 10k as a sign on cash bonus.
Cons
It seems that senior management may have a hard time listening to ideas. Maybe the compensation may be fuel to overconfidence--egos are nothing short. There are good times and there are bad times for every company, and for each person there is a different story to tell. Most importantly, working with good people is an important factor to individual satisfaction. For the people who simply do their work everyday, it may not be as exciting. I have had trouble communicating ideas to managers--they may ignore good suggestions based on title. Respect and title means a lot in this firm, so do not expect a meritocracy.
