There is seriously too much to mention.
1: being hired, you realize it was you and about 100 other people given the job just in that round.
2: There were only 2 managers, and they didn’t even hardly know what to do. In my tenure there, I talked to my manager 3 times: orientation, one random phone call, and day of termination. Mind you this was despite me consistently trying to speak with her, multiple times a week sometimes, to no avail, and this was a fully remote job/outside sales….
3. After orientation it was basically just every man/woman for themselves. No one knew what they were doing and they sure couldn’t get any help.
4. This company had absolutely horrible brand recognition here in the US. Everyone hated OYO. You would walk in to a hotel, they would be nice at first, and the minute you said “I’m from Oyo” a flip switched and you couldn’t leave their property fast enough. No one wanted anything to do with them or to have the OYO name anywhere near their work/hotels.
5. When I was given my territory I thought it was exclusive/protected. Reality was that in any given territory, there were probably 2-3 other sales reps that had already bled it dry and got what little they could if anything at all. At the point in my hiring, my territory was an absolute lost cause. The ONE hotel in the area that had actually signed on with them ended up backing out. Other than that it was “get the hell out of here” every where I went and “like I told the last 2 people…”
6. When it was all said and done, after 3 months of aimlessly trying to navigate this horrible company and job, they ended up laying off 2/3 of the sales staff they had just hired 3 months prior, along with others that had been there longer. No explanation, nothing. Just a conference call saying “if you get this email please make a calendar invite with me.” And then boom. Done
To sum it all up, this was by far, hands down, the worst professional experience I have ever had, and I know I was not the only one that felt this way at the end. If you respect yourself at all, just go ahead and keep looking for something else. Trust me when I say you will be doing yourself a favor!
