Pros

benefits and work life balance

Cons

This review is for Oxfam America's program side- Oxfam America does not live it's mission. It is run and ruled by a non diverse leadership team who puppeteer and control everything that goes on. Discriminatory towards staff and will do anything to push their agenda and the 'favored people' forward. Promotions not based on merit, but on who you suck up to in management. Unionized organization but some in the union leadership are friends with management so there goes that. Overall a terrible place to work. Very high turnover because you can only last maximum two to three year before all this gets to you. Remaining junior level staff are no longer motivated by the cause and are mostly looking to exit. Oxfam America will continue getting talented people becuase of it's name. But not many stay on. If you are talented and want to advance by doing good work, you won't last here. Come, get the name and leave

Pros

Influential well-known organisation. More open that most to new ideas. Great office space to work in. Friendly colleagues. Flexible working. Potential for progression if your face fits

Cons

Managers not held to account and quality of management determines your experience. Some controlling behaviours remain unchecked and poor performance not consistently dealt with. Lots of talk of learning which does not happen. What you say and how is valued more than delivery. Some technically weak staff promoted well-beyond competence/ experience.

Oxfam Ireland - Insincere

Pros

It can be a relaxed and fun place to work. It is also rewarding to know that money raised is funding good causes.

Cons

Senior management are a disgrace. They systematically treat paid employees with disregard and willingly turn a blind eye to staff working on their own (so please don't feel the urge to go to the toilet or even eat even though you may be on your own all day). They have no concern with your security or your safety and offer nothing in the way of support. They give lip service to valuing volunteers who do so much but get so little in return. For a charitable organisation they have no regard or respect for the teams who often work over their contracted hours to raise money. They are despicable.
