Pros

The people in the countries where Oxfam operates are great!

Cons

Oxfam Australia has a very top heavy structure that results in a very poor level of programming in the field. Headquarters "support" staff who often have little knowledge and experience in the field (but feel they have a lot) add to the work load of field staff.

Pros

For those driven by systemic change and committed to tackling deep-rooted inequalities, this organisation offers a meaningful platform. It enables you to explore, learn, and take on leadership roles in unique and impactful work across humanitarian response and poverty reduction.

Cons

The organisation is in a prolonged phase of transformation, still grappling with the fallout of the Haiti scandal. Despite downsizing its global footprint in 2020, resource challenges remain unresolved. A noticeable disconnect between global leadership and ground realities has created an environment of confusion and inconsistency. Additionally, compensation is no longer as competitive as it once was.
