Pros

Trusted to be entrepreneurial and not micro managed, so largely left alone. Varied work sorting interesting bits and bobs. Volunteers are lovely!

Cons

Demanding role, the work never stops Managing volunteers can be great but when you’re the only paid member of staff you have a lot of responsibility. Taking holidays and planning cover for shops can be tricky. So...much....admin

Pros

Not much but salary was ok

Cons

very poor quality of humanitarian programs, ethics breached several times by team members under the direct leadership of CD (fake & anti-dated invoices, etc). Bullying and psychological harassment, political stands & friendships between HQ and missions leaderships/CDs. Also, culture of burn-out and no diversity at leadership.
