Not very loyal to hard working employees

Pros

Pay bonus's at the time were good. Company seemed great in the beginning, lots of good benefits.

Cons

They lied to cut back on overtime hours promised to employees on project. Seemed to treat employees more like a number, caring about their bottom line more than treating the employees like people they care about. They lost a lot of good people because of some bad management.

Poor Quality of Life

Pros

Coworkers are among some of the better I've had in various companies. Lots of interesting projects to work on. Lots of in-house training opportunities.

Cons

Long hours if you work salary. As a field engineer expect to work around 60 hours a week or see the detrimental effect on your career reviews and advancement. Employee shares have been good in the past but they have been cutting down in the share offerings and the wages have been stagnant for a long time. Small bonuses. The talk about work-life balance but expect that work is your life. Very closed off about talking about wages. From the perspective of a current employee it looks like they are trying to muffle complaints from young employees about their quality of life.

Rampant Sexism

Pros

- shares - experience - reputation - some good employees/mentors that shine when allowed the chance

Cons

I worked at PCL for less than two years and in that time I was sexually harassed, verbally abused, and discriminated against for my mental health. My boss frequently stole credit and bullied her team into working weekends. Human Resources themselves admitted they have no power in their role and their recommendations are often ignored. This old boys club is overrun with nepotism, hostility, classism, and sexism, which is why EllisDon has been picking up what it leaves behind.
