PCL since I started in 2001 I have found to be a company that always sets the standards for others to follow. PCL has continuously challenged and encouraged me to take on bigger and more complex challenges. Throughout my Career here I have always felt supported in everything I do. The support system and the depth of talent is impressive. One is always very aware that this company attracts the best in the business. The employee ownership is the most important part of why they have the quality in the people that work here. I feel like an owner not just an employee, the commitment and dedication I feel for this company is what an owner would feel for his own company and why I believe this to be the best of the best of model a company could achieve. Others have similarities in the regard but I have come to find PCL has the truest version of this model and ensures employees share in the successes of the company fully. Some share a token amount some share similar to PCL but the historical long term success along with the full commitment of the company to share the owner ship is what puts us head and shoulders about the competition. Our leadership is the key to our success and the method of succession is given full attention which gives me confidence in our future and ongoing performance. One feels valued and PCL is very good at recognizing and supporting its people. I feel that my future and success is completely up to what I am capable of. There is never a feeling of resistance or lack of opportunity.
Cons
Construction is a busy field of business. The tendency is to work long hours, PCL encourages and confirms continuously that it supports balance for its employees. They teach and coach us to do just this. Ultimately we are taught to work efficiently and push us to improve out home life. It is an individual choice and one that is supported.
