      Pros

      Generally most of the company's policies reflect a caring disposition towards their employees. They also care to retain long term talent and that shows considering how many are part of the 20/25/30 year club. Are definitely willing to challenge you regarding workload, task or project difficulty. The share program is excellent if you're willing to take on financial risk as management is very driven towards keeping returns high along with the expectations of performance and results ( see cons). Co-workers are generally quite good at their respective jobs and help create a fun atmosphere. Has generally speaking weathered the economic slow down well so far.

      Cons

      Requires a long term mentality: Can probably find salaries that pay more, long term compensation after 5 years if investing in the company would likely return more overall. Can be politically oriented, although most companies can as well. Have a culture of high performance which isn't for everybody and can be hard to adapt to if you're not internally driven or can't maintain high standards and performance consistently. Career opportunities can be hard to come by and tend to be more focused around the construction side of the business (not a pro or con, just how the company works). Depending which area of the company you work in, work life balance can be hard to maintain.

Work-life balance is such an important factor for happy, healthy employees, and it's something we're trying to improve. Great suggestion about making sure we remain competitive-- our people are what keep PCL going (and growing!).

      Pros

      Stock options, benefits, and most of the people are great employees looking to improve the company. If employee surveys were taken seriously the district would be in better standing.

      Cons

      Terrible culture, and terrible district manager.
