Pros

Safety on job sites.

Cons

Pay is way too low - company shares are not as good as they claim. Do not work for Special Projects Division unless you are interested in looking at re-roofing and light fixture replacement type projects and are ok with travelling all over BC for minimal compensation.

Thank you for your insight. We would like to take this opportunity to respond to your two concerns. Regardless of the PCL division or scope of the project, we take great pride delivering the highest quality product to our valued clients. We execute every project as if it is our most important and are able to provide our team members experience with a wide variety of projects types and sizes. This makes us a versatile company with skilled team members. We also ensure that we provide competitive total compensation packages by reviewing market data regularly. As individual compensation information is maintained in the highest confidence, we are unable to address personal circumstances in this public forum. If you are interested in further explanation about your own compensation package and project experience for your previous employment at PCL, please feel free to reach out to me directly or via glassdoor@pcl.com so that we can address your concerns.

Pros

The majority of the people who do the day to day tasks are great people. Benefits package is reasonable. Nice fitness facility.

Cons

I work in Business Technology (IT) and the management is terrible. New CIO (2 years ago) has restructured a couple of times and seems to be guessing each time. The BT management does not care about people and newer "yes" people seem to get promoted instead of people actually doing a good job. You will either be expected to work long hours with little reward or will have nothing to do as management does not have a clue what is going on. The management style is by reports as opposed to them actually being involved with whats going on. Even if they attempted to be involved most are not technically capable of understanding. CIO and senior BT managers have no leadership skills or vision.

I am disappointed that your opinion of our Business Technology management team is negative. Any changes that have taken place are intended to ensure that the needs of our stakeholders continue to be exceeded. As a PCL employee, I encourage you to take advantage of the internal feedback options available and we will continue to grow and improve!

Pros

My favorite thing about working for PCL is how much they care for their employees. I can tell they are really thinking about how I can best be developed as a engineer and future project manager instead of having me just work where they need me.

Cons

It's more of the nature of the type of work than anything - but managing construction goes along with high stress. Fortunately, I am good at managing it, but it's fast paced here.

Thank you very much for this thoughtful review! If you haven't done so already, you might want to check out the E3 100 Leadership development program. The objective of this certification program is to increase the capacity of PCL employees to demonstrate leadership behaviors by providing them with the opportunities, resources, and framework in which to identify, assess, and develop their leadership competencies in the context of two critical business needs: 1. Leading positive change 2. Enhancing PCL's leadership and performance culture Something to think about!
