Working for PWC

Pros

1. Work life balance (sometimes too much of it). 2. Good IT networks and platform to do your work. 3. Job security - provided you could keep yourself busy (timesheet wise). 4. Best job to have during a recession or economic turmoil. 5. No paycuts and no headcount reduction during the toughest times.

Cons

1. High performers are not rewarded adequately. 2. You will be broke by the 3rd day of the month, because of a ridiculously low pay figure. 3. Top management is filled with old people, who perceive the young as a threat and hence would always put you down.

Pros

- competent peers and great group of people to work with - the name/value of the pwc brand - good clients - the work can sometimes be challenging (in a good way), but is often not - variety of projects - i truly believe that (some of) my partners care about me and my career - professional and respectful work environment

Cons

- pay! - work/life balance (though i think this is possible if you REALLY make an effort at it and let everyone you work with know your priorities) - recent downturn in focus on training and connectivity, which i believe has led to a decrease in morale overall

Big 4 still a great place to work

Pros

PwC was generally very supportive of their staff during the economic downturn, committing to and delivering upon no layoffs for a large majority of the practice.

Cons

Compensation is not competitive when compared to the level of effort asked of the staff. A Partner once said to me that he would like to see PwC operate more like an investment bank; does he not realize they make 4 times as much as our staff? Pretty out of touch.
