Pros

The only positive thing about any public firm is the overall experience you get by working on multiple clients and in different industries.

Cons

Honestly the management at RSM is below horrific. Managers all the way up to Partners make this a poor place to work and you might as well go back to high school. Managers/Partners will pick their favorites solely based on superficial characteristics. You work your butt off and get a 2 grand bonus for the year that is later taxed down that it can hardly cover 1 months worth of rent. Nobody actually cares about your career path even though they will try and say you will just to get you to stay, so you can make $30K less than the market value and work 500 more hours during the year. Public accounting is what it is, but this placed showed me how to NOT be professional and NOT act with integrity.

Pros

Because I want to give a decently fair shake, I will have to say that when you come from another firm they give you an okay pay raise. There are a few people that it is a pleasure to work with. They have a soda machine - no more cups though. So unless you bring a cup, you are not going to get anything to drink. There is constantly something going on so there is always food. Their new years eve party is amazing as you have the best view in the city.

Cons

I am not even sure where to begin. I want to choose my words carefully as I do not want to actually create any lawful action. The extreme lack of communication leads to outright confusion. The firm, as well as individual groups are so top heavy that it doesnt even make sense. I have personally been subject to anti-semitic remarks. People are down right rude and socially awkward. There is absolutely no training or guidance. Even though there are so many high level people, it seems as if they were promoted based on "time served" and not knowledge, because there are very few if any experts. There are questionable ethics in place, in a business sense and in a moral sense (this I will not go into detail other then to say no one should ever have to put their name or their license at risk). Almost like high school, the top-heaviness of the groups and abundance of managers lead to a complete disconnect and are in constant competition with eachother. It almost seems as if people try to put others down to make their client or project look better. There is absolutely no comradery. I would not have stayed in this firm even if they quadrupled my salary. There is so much I want to say and so many people I want to individually tarnish - and one day some people will get their due - but not on a review on glassdoor. I highly recommend that people avoid this firm.
