Pros

Due to the firm's involvement in the middle market, you gain exposure to a number of different industries. Audits typically take 2 to 6 weeks and then you roll onto a different company.

Cons

The pay differential compared to your counterparts at other mid level accounting firms is dismal. Also, with exposure to different industries, comes exposure to different busy seasons so you may be expected to work a busy season in the fall or summer (in addition to the typical winter busy season) depending on your clients.

Pros

My experience with McGladrey was positive. Junior employees were motivated and not typical "big 4" types - partners were very accessible. Team like atmosphere. Good work life balance.

Cons

Talent is not up to big 4 standards. Training, office environment, benefits on par or better than big 4. Making strides to be in the "big leagues" but still have a way to go.
