Pros

Great career start considering you will touch on many aspects of business such as revolving credit, retail sales, Investments and term lending. Will get recognized if you work hard and overachieve. I have seen many promotions happen in the span of a few months of working. One of the best training programs Get to wear a suit!

Cons

If you can't handle sales pressure this will not work for you. Must meet quotas every week. Must be able to prioritize your work. You will eventually be overloaded with walk ins, calls, contact from call centers, distressed clients. Some things are more important than others, you must know what to focus on first.

Pros

They have a good product line for their lenders.

Cons

Management was a joke. From their western head to the local area manager, the home financing advisor channel is the runt that Scotia keeps alive because they have to. They are a broker bank and brokers make them or break them. Had a number of deals that Scotia internally wouldn't do but if a broker brings it to Scotia they'll do it. Moreover, they pay brokers double for the same business. What a slap in the face.

Pros

Good training, both on the job and off the job. Decent benefits, including medical and vacation benefits. Flexible work arrangement which helps employees cope-up special circumstances at the family front, including child care etc. Recognition for merit and good chances for career progression.

Cons

Somewhat outdated information systems, although it is not a big deal. Average salary structure compared to other employers both in the banking and non-banking world.
