Pros

Of all the major banks in Canada, Scotiabank is the one that will provide you with the most job security and loyalty to their employees. It rarely cleans up shop, like other banks, and fires a large amount of people In addition, it is also the best bank in terms of allowing you to work at your own pace and balance your personal life with work (opposed to employers that lock you down for long hours). Plenty of people at Scotiabank have been there for 30+ years and expect to retire there. I've heard many stories where Scotiabank, and its subsidiaries, have recruited people from other companies and stayed at the bank indefinitely. Also, it is great at providing employees with various events to spice up the day, whether its a charity run, a fundraiser, social committees or what not, it makes it feel like a university club atmosphere.

Cons

The flipside of job security is that it rarely fires incompetent people, rather they would just transfer them around to other departments.
