Pros

Good pay with unfriendly tax components. As the pay is above the industry standard, it is a short term gain but long term loss as it becomes almost impossible to get a new offer with the matching pay.

Cons

Impact of unplanned hiring – Just to replace people in other countries, they have started unplanned and brisk hiring which resulted in selection of unworthy people. In this process, they have hired 10 years experienced and 15 years experienced for the same level/job. You can just apply for a specific role and rest assured you will be selected even if you don’t have prior experience for the same role. The only criteria based on which a resource is selected is communications skills and storytelling during selection process. There is no job security and they fire people at any time. For political, By political and Of political – You will find an extremely political environment in Shell from top to bottom. There are people who just survive with their political skills. There are politics in every organization but Shell IT Bangalore can be rated above in terms of politics. It is not the place if you are hard working. Senior management – They have hired senior management from service industry who are incapable and failed to deliver in their previous organizations. These people don’t know how to motivate the lower level and they are just surviving with their special skills. Project delivery – Project delivery is worst and pathetic as some of the project managers who were hired don’t have prior project management experience in terms of planning the resources required, timelines, rating the performance of resources etc. Their behavior is unprofessional and they are just surviving by pampering their higher ups. Work life balance – Work balance is zero as the projects are planned with very tight timelines and minimum head count. In a way, service companies are better than Shell as you will be working overtime every day and on frequent week ends.

Pros

Big brand big name in resume

Cons

1. No Planing. They even know why they are hiring people 2. After joining they give work which is very different to previous experience, no matter how much experience you have. 3. Do not like to take suggestions, no matter how much your your idea is saving 4. Shell never value its employees, they are laying off employees with more then 30 years of experience (its more than my age) 5. Its addition performance pressure on employees in Bangalore as they expect same productivity same knowledge as employee with good experience they are laying off. 6. As employee specially in India, you cannot ask for a particular project, as you may have experience in working on it. 7. Employee Safety (also called as HSSE) has made a joke in India. Shell use HSSE as per management convenience 8. No flexibility, no work from home. So you can think of Work Life Balance. Specially in India, Employees has to work late hours with teams in Europe or US 9. Employees has to work late hours with teams in Europe or US, however there is restriction to travel. 10 If you are so misfortune that you have to travel there is no travel allowances. You will endup expenses in $ from your pocket. 11. CTC and hike from outside may look good, but they salary is structured in a way that you endup paying more tax returns. (I am getting less take home then my previous company) 12. They are not very certain what expertise they need. They give you work which is very different to you experience and expect you to be productive. If you dont, you will be confirmed. They have already asked 140 employee to leave. (140 /800 quite big number) There are many more...in short if you are in Bangalore ...DONT JOIN ...I am waiting to finish my first year, so I can leave.

Pros

Great development opportunities in terms of training and on the job experience. Excellent place to start a career and great work life balance.

Cons

Relatively slow organisation, but depends on business line you are in. Traditional thinking in terms of skills development, i.e. very much focussed on detailed industry skill development, generalism has become less appreciated. Young professionals are not really supported in by means of trainee programs, job progression or otherwise managed exposure.
