Managers are mostly incompetent, unintelligent, and self serving, with no EQ whatsoever, and zero ability (or wilful ignorance/negligence) to predict the future, insofar as the effects of their choices and decisions are concerned, mostly focusing on myopic initiatives that make them look good to higher management, at the cost of their direct reports. Thus resulting in high attrition rates and burnouts. Nepotism and brown nosing are rampant, further fueling the proliferation of such managers. Career/growth opportunities (in a direction different from what management plans out for you behind closed doors) are virtually non-existent, unless aforementioned managers deem it necessary/appropriate, which is mostly not the case, since they need to ensure continuity of the workforce. The marginal succes of this organization can be attributed to young, ambitious graduates lured in with fanciful promises, with no idea of the environment that awaits them, and talented and hard working but jaded/disillusioned operators/mechanics. - appointment of the current manager is questionable. Despite not having the knowledge of applicable standards, the manager was appointed without due process. Always pretend to care but they don't - poor salary and employee value proposition

an evil boss who still thinks slavery is legal. My employer was the most corrupt, evil, morally void person I've met. Stealing from staffs wages, making staff work illegal hours (literally 24 hours on the run for one of my colleagues) failing to pay holiday pay and sick pay when I was ill with covid, failing to pay minimum wage, and the icing on the cake, threatening staff if they leave, he said he would send a "representative" around to my house because I said I would contact the police as he was refusing to pay my final wages. it is extremely unlikely that other shell garages will be like this but I do not know how this guy has been getting away with this for years.
