Pros

Great place to start and learn, especially in regards to corporate functions. SBT is very forgiving. Salary is competitive. Big company = Big budgets which makes investing in the tools you need to complete your job easy. Great colleagues, and not too many slackers.

Cons

Big Brother in Germany - My way or the highway... Systems and process are globally implemented without understanding or respect of how the different markets and employees function. Always about the bottom line. We don't recieve much insight on how our actions affect the big picture. Too many projects that affect internal operations rather than winning more business.

Pros

Career safety, not too many surprises, and strong support to invest in educational background (local MBA, courses, etc). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . .

Cons

Engineers are 1st class citzens compared to other graduation courses. BAs and Economists have 2nd class jobs as support to their Engineers "technical pairs". It is very rare to see a non-enineer in high position, or rapid career growth. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Pros

Benefits are okay although retirement packages offered to European employees is off-limits to US employees. Involvement with state-of-the-art water technologies is interesting. Food in facility cafeteria is great.

Cons

Business Run Like a Machine Shop: Probably because the business was formerly U.S Filter. It is run with a small-business mentality with no vision. Automation and standardization is not welcome and redundancy is the norm. Their BOM system is riddled with redundancies as they do not use a smart numbering schema throughout. The same part exists in mutiple records throughout the system because they treat every project as a 'custom' one and the Engineers re-create the same part over and over. They do not believe in commodity base numbers with variants. Each one is treated as a unique part number. Lack of Management: Very little communication between management and employees. Double-standard when it comes to personal time off between management and employees. Management does not implement internal business processes to ensure the smooth management of client projects. Business is run very lean often chasing their own tail. Business is and has been a money-losing venture with constant warranty work and penalty fees being applied for late commitments to clients per contractual agreements. Its no wonder they just laid off approx. 15 people from the facility. Lack of Respect for Others: Lack of respect is evident throughout the whole organization. This is modeled by the President as he is constantly berating his VPs and Senior Managers. Senior Management is often yelling, berating, and swearing at Engineers and others well within earshot of other employees in the work area. The whole environment is one of intimidation.
