Pros

Lots of hours. Free 1lb. of coffee every week. 15 cents above minimum wage. Health care benefits if you make it past 3 months.

Cons

Strict uniform policy. Waking up at 5 am. If you are 5 minutes late, it is the end of the world. If the shift supervisor is half an hour late to open to store, business as usual. Shift Supervisors act as if they have authority over the manager. Shifts gossip about every employee inconspicuously. There is a lack of importance for customer service. The customer is always wrong. Everything the customer wants can be done, if there is a fee. Lots of heavy lifting. You feel more like a janitor that makes drinks. Mystery chemicals dry out hands like crazy- needed steroid cream from the doctor's. Be prepared to smell like stale coffee. Shift supervisors watch you on the surveillance cameras when they are on their breaks.

Pros

Free pound of coffee per week, free beverages during shift, access to health insurance.

Cons

Overworked and underpaid. It's more than just pouring coffee. As a partner, you are expected to keep the customer more than satisfied, keep the store exquisitely clean, oversell retail, and cut labor (meaning you need to do all of this with less staffing--who needs a paycheck, right?). There are no sick days, no personal days, and no vacation accrual until after one year. Incentive to work extremely hard and meet all of these requirements is low, because you will not be monetarily rewarded for your efforts. Pay starts at *just* above minimum wage, and will not increase for 6 months. At that point, you *might* get a raise--up to $0.50/hr. After that, you must wait another 6 months for another possibility of a $0.50 raise.
