Pros

The benefits are great, there's upward mobility to the shift and AM level, and you get paid a decent wage for the work. My manager was great about working with our schedules (I went to school full time and worked another job, and he always made sure I had time for everything, but if I wanted the hours I got them.) It was really fun, fast-paced, and everyone had a good time.

Cons

There were one or two associates that weren't as easy to get along with, but overall I have no real complaints. It gets harder to move from Assistant manager level to GM, and they insist you move up through the ranks if you start as a barista, but they will hire GM's externally.

Pros

Brand recognition; leadership, communication and time management development.

Cons

High performance expectations with minimal allocated time to deliver. Stressful, Sleep deprivity. Poor communication with minimal notice from upper management of required actions and changes. As a Store Manager, you are allocated ~ 3 hours a week for any admin managent tasks, other wise you're floor coverage just like your baristas Due to this, you have to work extra just to get the job done! Starbucks previously emphasized work/life balance and there business model supported that. Now, Starbucks claims to value work/life balance but sets too high of expectations for you to realistically accomplish that. The company has changed! All Howard cares about is winning and increasing stocks. He will succeed at this but Starbucks will never be the same great company to work for again. Starbucks wants more for less and has compromised there integrity to do so.

Pros

The work environment is excellent. The employee atmosphere is laid-back and encouraging, managers work with you instead of over you, and the customer-base is solid.

Cons

Super early shifts might be a con to some. If you work in a busy store it can get pretty stressful at times.
