Pros

Very generous benefits packages, even for part-time employees. Stock vesting programs, 401k, incredible medical and dental, and above all the college achievement plan. I've taken advantage of all of these, i'm about to graduate with a BS in criminology,a minor in justice studies and advanced data analytics with zero debt. If you advocate for yourself and take advantage of the programs offered by the company, it can have incredible payoffs. An outstanding 2-3.5 year job for grad students or undergrads that can handle 21-25 hours a week.

Cons

The work can be incredibly demanding, particularly in high volume environments, and the rate of attrition makes retaining competent staff difficult. The corporate structure relies on managers demanding very high output levels from partners, unless they're lazy or on the verge of leaving you'll be worked to the bone. I wouldn't recommend it to people looking for temporary work, there are better paying, less exhausting jobs and the appeal lies in the benefits programs, which don't really pay off until then end of your first full year. Experience varies wildly depending on the quality of the management, cultural settings nearby, and clientele. People can be horrible, and you're paid in part to tolerate that. You'll get screamed at, maybe have things thrown at you, and if have to clean up some very unsavory things, but that's par for the course in retail/service.

Pros

There are so many advantages to working for this company*. Corporate definitely knows how to keep their customers happy--by always working to keep their employees happy. I don't know of many other companies that genuinely strive to be good to their people, especially a corporation of their size. Some of the most notable perk include: - Full health coverage at 20 hours/week. While the available insurance plans were significantly better a decade ago, the newer plans are still much better than those of most other companies, & they don't cost an arm & a leg. Less benefits for higher premiums has become the norm across the board with most health insurance companies in recent years, but Starbucks still does what it can to provide its' people with the best value possible. - Ongoing training opportunities for those who are interested, & a culture that encourages increased responsibility & management positions within a reasonable time frame to those who prove themselves & are interested in such roles. - Flexible scheduling & promotion of a healthy work/life balance. - Great working environment, even during the most chaotic rushes, as a result of fostering the benefits of good teamwork & communication. - College education offered to those who qualify. *I am referring to the company as a whole. There are sometimes extreme differences in two stores within the same district, so it really all depends on who the Store Manager & Assistant Store Manager are.

Cons

It doesn't matter where you go--there will ALWAYS be demanding, entitled people who insist you remake their drink three times because the foam in their grande nonfat cappuccino isn't nonfat-y enough. You just have to smile, remake the drink, & not take it personally.

Pros

Great company all around. They love their people and take great care of them.

Cons

Behind on technology. I sometimes am baffled at some of the thing we have to do and how long simple tasks take to get done.
