Pros

Target pays very well, and offers great benefits to it's ETL's. They also focus a lot on internal development, and there is room to promote if you're interested.

Cons

Target requires you work a LOT of hours, including nights and weekends. Communication from HQ to stores was often lacking, and HQ was often guilty of rolling out new strategies quickly and without much store testing or training.

Pros

There is never a dull moment. And there are a range of positions you can hold which includes HR, salesfloor, logistics and guest service. You are in each position 18 months minimum, then it just depends how your results are and how well you network with other STLs and the DTLs to get your name out there. The pay is competitive, sometimes $10,000 more than what other retailers offer for the same position. You form a sort of family with your team! You are always being developed. You go to mock interviews with other STLs. You get a chance to go up paygrades 6 months to a year in position, or whenever upper mgmt starts seeing results in your area. You have quartely check ins, so there is no surprise at your annual review.

Cons

Engagement and recognition are minimal to none. Seems to be an opportunity every year, and it doesn't seem to get any better because all the cuts Target makes. Stores are running at the bare minimum, as a result everyone is so task driven they have forgotten to "have fun" at work. Also, with exec positions being combined, they are 1 to 2 less executives in the building to help when the workload is overwhelming. Number one con is the amount of payroll that is given to stores to complete everyday tasks. It is just not feasible for a department to have say 80 hours for payroll in a given week to maintain the level of brand Target wants, complete new sets that should take for example 60 hours , and provide exceptional guest service. Because no overtime is given, salaried execs pick up the pieces by working 60+ hrs a week.

Worst company I've ever worked for.

Pros

Manager experience helped me out.

Cons

Exectutive team leaders are treated like royality while team leaders and team members are treated like dogs. We do all the work while the ETL's get all the credit. I was verbally harassed and treated terribly by my ETL and by ETL HR. I complained to team member services multiple times and nothing happened. My direct ETL is the reason I never want to work for target again. Target thinks its a good idea to give straight out of college kids a high salary and a position of power. Most if not all ETL's let this power go to their heads. They disrespect team members and threaten to fire people. Most unprofessional company I've ever worked for. I was never once thanked for my hard work. The ETL's take all the credit. Most of them do nothing but hide in an office all day. When district team leaders visit. ETL's run around like a chicken with their heads cut off. They bark orders at people. Then when the district team leader gets there, he doesn't say a word to anybody that isn't an ETL. Yeah very fast, fun and friendly. These people work for target and they act like they work for the Government. Get off it. I will never work for target again nor will I shop there. Target sucks. If you are thinking about working there, please find something else. There's thousands of companies out there that treat employees with respect and pay better.
