Pros

Good pay, and decent benefits. You also get a discount in the store. The employees at the store are generally very nice and understanding. There is decent management at store level but this can vary from store to store. I saw store managers that worked insane, 14 and 15 hour days, but I was not affected by this very much. Target has a very efficient distribution strategy.

Cons

It has typical retail hours, and it sucks during the holidays. Sometimes management can be high pressure. Some of the customers are not considerate of the employees and will make a very big mess of the store. Wearing red and khaki can also get very old.

Pros

It's a place to get your foot in the retail door.

Cons

Huddles. It's very juvenile, takes time from actual work and seems to be directed by disgruntled former cheerleaders. "Team" everything. If one person does a great job, the whole team gets good recognition rather than the ONE person who actually did the work. The acknowlegement board is juvenile. The way the hours are allocated. Sloppy and all over the place. Multiple "chiefs" trying to each out do one another at the expense of the hourly people; ie. mngr#1 says do this, in the middle of the task, mngr#2 makes you stop to do what he/she wants, mngr#3 comes along with the same idea and the hourly guy gets yelled at for NOT completing task of mngr#1, half finishing task from mngr#2 and then gets yelled at with a stern "you aren't pulling your team weight" speech from mngr#3 when it's time for worker to go home but the tasks are still not done. If things are going great, it's "Yay TEAM!". If things are going crappy, it's "Hey YOU! This is YOUR fault for not being a better part of the TEAM!". Hive mentality to the hilt.
