Pros

Target works around my schedule. I have to work opposite my husband and they have been very good about my strict schedule demands. It is as neat and clean as it appears to customers (known to Target as "guests"). There are some very, very smart team members that I have met and become friends with. I like that I get a 10% discount for things that I would buy any way, even if I didn't work at Target. Target has some really nice products to purchase, and now I'm just trying to complete 100 words because I hate Target. Done.

Cons

Target has a very, very low glass ceiling. I have met some team leaders and team members that will never go any higher than their current position. Target has started a new policy on hiring Executive Team Leaders (assistant managers). They have to have a degree but not necessarily ANY retail experience. Target has an extremely high employee turnover rate. I have worked with literally dozens of people in the short year that I've been there. You get treated with virtually no respect and every single day they remind you of what your job is even though it's the same daily.

Pros

Fantastic retailer with a lot of fun programs.

Cons

Very old school mentality to a company that is now a large company and to compete they need to get past the Mervyns way of thinking

Pros

Target is a premier retailer to work for. I have worked for several retailers and you will not find another retailer like Target. They really go above and beyond to take care of their team.

Cons

Politics. There is a political aspect within most companies, but more so in Target than I have seen in others. Promotions are not based on performance, rather, it is more of who you know and much of it is based on diversity. If you are a white male or even a white female, your chances of promotion are greatly decreased, no matter your performance or contribution to the company.
