Pros

The culture is great. The company believes people should work hard and play hard. If you enjoy going to happy hours often, not eating lunch at your desk and getting promoted quickly... Target is the place for you.

Cons

You actually have to work and it won't always be glamorous. You can only skate by for so long. While you're still figuring out your job you may have to work 12+ hour days. If you're not a people person, you will have a hard time.

Pros

Target is a very team oriented workplace and team members are very friendly and willing to lend a helping hand. While working here, I have learned and obtained many new leadership qualities as well as life lessons that I will use for the rest of my life. There are plenty of opportunities to advance within the company as long as your work reflects your progress. Target is also an extremely diverse company with many women and different kinds of people in upper management positions. Management is always open and willing to listen to new ideas and options.

Cons

Depending on the size of the store, it can sometimes be very demanding. Many times younger employees are more inclined to call off, thus making the workload more strenuous on everyone in the store.

Pros

Stable company that provides real opportunity for advancement and/or job changes. Also, if you like retail, Target does for the most part live up to its claim to value work/life balance (even during the holidays), so you really will work a mostly five day work week and have every other weekend off, which is rare in retail.

Cons

You will get tired of people getting tired of people thinking they are the first to tell you they call the store "Tar-zhay." Seriously, though, you have to accept that to to advance to upper level jobs you will need to fit the culture of the company. Also, you must be willing to work half your weekends and some nights unless you are not in the stores.
