Pros

Its nice to build relationships with the guest and with your team.

Cons

The pay is terrible for a GSA. For those who don’t know a GSA is an “acting manager”. If anyone asks for a manager, you’re the first person to come up, you have the same codes as the store manager and can override everything that they can. The difference is that they call you a “GSA” which “technically” isn’t a manager so they get away with paying you terribly. The GSA is in charge of the front of the store. We take care of the checklanes, guest services, cafe and at my store we even help out with Starbucks. The cashiers that I oversee make $12 an hour. The guest service team I oversee make $12 an hour. The cafe team makes $12 an hour. The Starbucks team makes $12.50. Me, as a GSA and acting manager makes $12.50. $0.50 more than the team I manage. The pay is ridiculous and now they are even saying Targets are to get rid of GSA’s because they are too cheap to pay them like actual team leads or managers.
