Pros

If you’re from the small town of Newtown you will fit in perfectly. Beware if you are a minority as you may be left emotionally scarred.

Cons

From a city in England came to work in Tesco's in Newtown which is a small town in wales. Since working there I’ve heard things that left me in dismay. racist comments about lorry drivers (he can't reverse the lorry because he's polish), Islamophobic (haven’t seen you in ages did you go and join ISIS, did you?) anti-Semitic (look there's the Jew). These are some of the few. Terrible I know. Reported an incident to the manager where a former college was racist towards me. The employee left the company without working his notice. So apparently, it’s out of Tesco’s hand and they can’t do anything about it. So, I was left racially abused but no option but to accept it. (maybe referring it to the police might have helped. A manager (who is very unprofessional) said that They spoke to the employee but not about that (there argument for that was that they can't talk about something that has happened whilst the person who was racist is shopping at Tesco because that’s business and it wouldn't be right if he's coming in as a customer . This was said to me on one of the meetings to discuss the racial abuse allegation.

Pros

Your first initial weeks staring the new position is very welcoming, by management and overall department seniors. Training is relaxed and very helpful, giving you the positive start - needed to be sucessful in your new role.

Cons

Now for the bad part: There seemed to be rather alot of bullying, and foul treatment by other work colleagues'. While I was here for a very short period of time. Within 3 weeks - witnessed verbal abuse inflicted by members onto other colleagues who seemed to get away with their very poor actions. I too was a martyr on several occassions, (even physically poked in the face) and brought it to the attention with seniors then management. In doing so, my concerns were swept under the carpet. For my own safety, and wellbeing; I decided to to get out quick. A Plc with no professional grading, nor protection to individual's.

Pros

Working at Tesco was on the whole very good. I only worked there as a Christmas Temp. Working on the nightshift has its benefit as you get PAID EXTRA. Also it allows you to have a good WORK/LIFE BALANCE. The breaks are very reasonable and there is no pressure to take them at a certain time. Management is pretty good and supportive. Tesco allows you to turn up when you are supposed to and leave when you are supposed to allowing you to get on with your work and not worrying about external things.

Cons

There aren't many cons to working at Tesco. On the night shift hour can be quite long but are paid well. Also to as a Christmas temp I could of been told what I was supposed to be doing a little more as felt helpless at times.
