Pros

£9.50 per hour plus regional add-ons, v cheap cafeteria, time and a half on sundays, 'uncliqey', clearly defined job, management minded to be fair, getting out and about, meeting people. Driving & problem solving - if you like it.

Cons

No shortcuts to make the job easier, 4-5hr shifts are totally committed - no time to stop usually even for 5 minutes. Need to concentrate or easy to make mistakes. Vehicles run into the ground - look 10yrs old after 5yrs service. Some 'jobsworths' who won't help if it's not their department. Pay breakdowns are not available.

Pros

Good Sunday rate of pay. Standard easy shop work.

Cons

Majority of team (including management) apart from a couple were very cliquey and wouldn't interact with 'outsiders'. Rude/condescending staff and management (i.e threatened with violence by another staff member after I asked why he didn't come to tills when it was busy). Management on power trip, their way is the 'right' way no matter what; also very lazy, would spend majority of time sat in office drinking coffee. No incentives for anything.

Pros

Lovely colleges, made some good friends over the period I was there. Pays at least minimum wage. Not a lot else.

Cons

I am disabled and was employed for a short period at tesco, as my disease advanced I began to really struggle with my job so was discussed with management and told that I would be moved to tills. Three days later I was "laid off" and told they were making cuts and anyone on a temporary contract across the store was being let go. I later discovered that I was the only person in store who was "laid off" and that they employed four new staff two days after I was let go. Constantly berated by management over my disability, any time I was in pain or injured I was disciplined and I was regularly picked at over my medical leg braces and footwear needed to accommodate them.
