Pros

Opportunities to travel. Work with young enthusiastic people (average employee age <30). Opportunities to drive unreleased prototype vehicles.

Cons

Many higher level employees and managers are arrogant and don't treat lower level employees with respect. No consistent direction on priorities and different priorities between teams results in infighting over support and resources. High turnover rate means projects are constantly changing hands and same mistakes are repeated over and over again. Expected to work insane number of hours to meet aggressive timelines, only to have programs direction change at the last minute and all the work being thrown out. No transparency regarding layoffs, or future objective of company. Leadership that does not operate with honesty or integrity.

Pros

Co-workers were generally great. There was a great team mentality. I definitely met more good people than bad. Tesla will train you if you don't have auto experience, but if you don't live near the training facilities, moving and out of state tuition costs can break you. They will provide you uniforms. Some shops provide tools for you. Benefits are decent.

Cons

Frontline management was toxic and Tesla seemed to promote and encourage these toxic, power-hungry personalities. People were quitting left and right because of this. They only care about numbers. The soul of this business has left. Low pay for a dangerous job. They will pay women and marginalized groups disproportionately.

Death, Dismemberment and Despair await

Pros

Their check does not bounce, so that is a plus

Cons

12 hour shifts with 30 min lunch breaks and 3 - 10 min breaks (total), if you return late, write up. Construction all the time will injure or kill you as construction teams are not held to regulations and therefore, dont care if they cause an accident. Dropping/Falling steel beams from bad install is a norm. 10 deaths just in Texas in 2023, 2 incidents of workers bringing guns into the plant in 2023, over 100 dismemberments in 2023 and too many workers injured to the point of needed long term disability. All to make a car that cant perform in the winter and a truck that has terrible parts that dont align with body panels.
