Pros

Smart fun colleagues. The opportunity to collaborate with others and pioneer new technology. The opportunity to work for both startups and fortune 500 clients all over the world. The best off-shoring model.

Cons

No work-life-balance and total lack of downtime. Changes at the leadership level happen with the speed of light, lack of strategic planning.

Pros

Filled to the gunnels with talented, highly intelligent people. Always more to learn and someone to learn from. Opportunities to travel and work in other countries. Always on the cutting edge of new technology.

Cons

Consulting. Often for difficult clients in locations you wouldn't voluntarily visit. Travel, long hours. 'Staff augmentation' assignments on projects without much influence. Basically like being a contractor without the income of a contractor.

Pros

Working with really, really smart and competent people. Exposure to interesting work and knowledge sharing. Culture that encourages irreverence. Access to senior management and ability to speak your mind without fear of reprisal.

Cons

Travel is often seen as the biggest downside, but recent organizational realignments/strategies seems to have enabled people to work more closely to their home cities than ever before. Working at client sites for long periods of time can make you feel somewhat disconnected from the culture, unless there is a large number of ThoughtWorkers on the gig.
