They have very solid benefits and they won't work you to death, but I discovered after leaving Timken that their compensation is usually below market averages.
They are also a public company and know who butters their bread. At the end of the day, they are there to serve shareholders first and foremost, so if loyalty to an employee comes at the expense of shareholder value, don't expect it.
They were also moving as much of their production overseas as they could while I was there, but to be fair, so does everyone else in the manufacturing industry. Overall, they were a solid employer and I had a good experience working there.
Also, if you have any ambitions of moving up in the company, (outside of sales or mfg plant management), be prepared to live in Northern Ohio because those opportunities are at WHQ in North Canton, Ohio. Not a knock on Timken, just the reality.
