Pros

The atmosphere that surrounds you is something to love. The people also make the work seem like something to pass the time. The access to resources is amazing and the acquisition of work is ongoing. Jobs basically come to you.

Cons

The only cons I can describe was the site location. It was a little far from where I was staying and really hit the wallet in terms of transportation. Although this is outside of the control of Turner, it is my only gripe with my experience there.

Pros

Resume High profile projects Some really experienced people willing to share their knowledge A good perspective of the business of construction in the 21st century

Cons

Although performance is evaluated in a lengthy and easily trumped up form, the reality is that you are judged on "face-time" and whether you were there that day, they've never heard of ROWE or job share or any alternative means of working. Management is completely out of touch with the present and mid-level personnel who often don't fit the model of one bread winner of the 1930s, but are forced to fit the mold nevertheless at great personal sacrifice. Work-life-balance is bandied around, but not practiced nor encouraged, only offered to very few and far between individuals and kept of the hush hush for fear of reprisals. A company that does not value it's female employees at all, and mommy-tracks them in silent but effective ways, and looses much of their experience and knowledge. Long hours are expected. A business development branch that undersells and riddles teams with high risk contracts and expects teams to "clean up" the mess and make a profit with under-experienced team members and a dangled carrot of a "potential bonus" at the end of the project.

Pros

benefits, and some good middle level management people, looks good on resume

Cons

Upper Mgt. basis promotions on favoritism. I was really excited for awhile to be working at Turner but it has been an ultimate disappointment. If you haven't been raised in the Turner Family you are an outsider. Mr. Davoren needs to connect with the lower level people and not just the officers. . The biggest thing is the leadership needs to be turned over and they need to move into the 21st century.
