      Pros

      This is a smaller unit of larger UL. It allows to be work in a small company environment but you will have the benefits of a larger company. Great people.

      Cons

      Princeton location is hard to get to. The commute can be an issue if you live further out. Some of the processes are cumbersome and manual. Some of the people are still clinging to older methods. There is lot internal politics in the division even though it is a smaller division and is mostly works independently.

      Pros

      The compensation is at the very least industry standard. Depending on where you are, there are lots of opportunities for overtime.

      Cons

      The CEO is overly paternalistic and thinks everyone in the company hangs on every word that comes out of his mouth. Band-aid application of Lean Sigma in areas where it is not relevant. Innovation comes slowly because we are a dinosaur in the industry with few competitors. Middle management is only concerned with short term goals and not the big picture. Some lab technicians have much harder jobs than others and this is not recognized at any point in the organization. Work-life balance can be o.k. most of the time, but can be nonexistent at a moments notice. Ironically, the safety of the workers comes secondary to getting a job done with as few people and as quickly as possible.

      Pros

      Very interesting work and co-workers were decent. I learned alot and used that in finding a new job where i could apply my skills and craft.

      Cons

      Lack of respect from upper management. Also, not a great work life balance. UPper management was only about getting in their quota for the day. No gravitas toward lower working class.
