There isn't a lot of opportunity for promotions. You are expected to apply for a job at the next level but new job opportunities are not posted very often. There are many people waiting for their next opportunity. There are pockets of the company that seem very toxic to work for.

There's not a great deal of sophistication or quality to the software they write, with virtually no telemetry or observability. Unit tests were uncommon, there wasn't really an attempt at CI/CD, and no real push to raise the bar from the software engineering side. Lower level management didn't have the skills to recognize these issues either.
