Excessive hours for what you are paid, 60-70 hr weeks are not uncommon. Lack of 401K match. No pension plan for new management. Poor stock awards for management. On call, and called, 24 hrs a day. Upper management over paid compared to frontline management. In an effort to demonstrate diversity, many unqualified minorities are being promoted only because they are minorities. Most unfair promotion process issues are due to this situation.
The best things about UPS are clearly the benefits package. Vacation time is fair but don't expect to take any time off during the holidays! You'll work hard, sweat, get dirty and feel exhausted. Good place to work for college kids or 20 somethings as a loader or supervisor.
Cons
The biggest downside are the crazy hours you'll be working. Be ready to live around a strange schedule and to be tired all day long. Plus the union sucks and is a waste of money. They help the lazy people stay in their jobs.
