Pros

Responsibilties well beyond job descriptionand title. Level of responsibilty at evrery level makes you very competative once you leave UPS.

Cons

Hostile work environment - constant threatening environment from Management. Absolutely no work[life balance. If 8 holidays a year entices you, long commutes, and inequity in salary and raises thrill you this is the place for you. There's nothing like driving hours to work each way everyday just to get threatened all day! Nothing is more frustrating to have your boss with a high school diploma or an Associates degree tell you you need to go back to school in order to get promoted.

Pros

The money is great. The experience is priceless. It looks great on a resume.

Cons

The stress is killer. The hours are endless. The pressure to put out is relentless. They hate you for leaving. I would say that if you are a UPS driver, you have the best job in the world and should have your head examined for wanting to go into management. If you forego the examination and "jump the fence" and go into management be ready to be pounded on relentlessly by your new union employees as well as the rest of management. You must bleed brown if you want to move up from there. Other than that it's a great place to work!

Pros

For college students it is a great place to work. Union employees get 3000 dollars in tuition reimbursment each year. If you decide to make a jump into management you can get 4000 dollars in tuition reimbursment. PT supervisors make between 13-15 per hour while union employees start out between 8-10 per hour. Great chance for advancement into higher paying jobs as long as you are willing to work at the low end for a couple of years.

Cons

Some shifts require crazy hours to be worked, for example 4am-10am is the most important shift operations worked wise. Horrible relationship between management and union, they do not work well together and can create a stressful environment at times.
