Pros

UPS offers a phenominal benefits package, even for part-time employees. The company prides itself on promotion from within, so advancement is directly related to how much you want it and how hard you are willing to work for it. I have met many members of senior management and all of them started as hourlys. In additon, the holiday season results in a LOT of overtime pay for someone who can put in the hard hours. A great job for a college student, the hours leave open most classtimes and the company supports education. Often promoting employees immediatly after graduation.

Cons

The work is hard and demanding. The pace is always fast and the hours leave much to be desired. However, the pay scale reflects this.

Pros

Job stability. An extremely stable company that you do not have to worry about being laid off. It is especially great in a down economy. Friendly people. The people I have met in this company so far has all been friendly to deal with. Flexible schedule (at least for IT positions). I have been able to take the time off whenever I needed it. Many available jobs to choose from (depends on your position too). UPS is a large company and it has a great variety of positions if you have the skills to do it.

Cons

Compensation below market (you pay for stability) and not based on performance. Difficult to advance (at least for IT positions in certain groups). Company culture/traditions maybe too ancient for the younger generation.

Pros

Job Stability, benefits are great (pension, medical, 401k, stock bonuses). You get personal days (min 5 days) in addition to your vacation days. Sick days are unlimited. The new pension plans gives the younger and new employees more flexibility.

Cons

Not young or dynamic, very conservative and older staff. Tuition reimbursement is pathetic. The IT staff is so old you don't get any new innovation, IT works on old technologies and does not create an environment for innovation. College degrees are not valued much as most of the older generation were part-time workers. Upper Management gets rewarded on a different scale than regular Manager and supervisors.
