Pros

As an Army civilian you can serve your country and help take care of Soldiers. There are limitless opportunities to attend training and take online courses for career-broadening or self-development. Your career growth is limited only by your motivation and persistence.

Cons

The Army is a very bureaucratic organization and those in authority may not always listen to what you have to say. Local mileage varies, but most Army leaders are excellent, and really care about their people.

Pros

Pay and benefits: I hit 20 years this September. I will receive 50% if my base pay for the rest of my life.

Cons

Currently I move every 2 years. This is tough on my kids. They continually start new schools and have to make new friends.
