Pros

Get decent training with the military in general. Equipment is farely new. Opportunity to make lots of friends. Job security is there. Up to you on how fast you get raises.(promotions) Benefits are good to a certain extent.

Cons

You belong to the government. At any time of the day you can be recalled to come back in to work. For as many hours you work, pay is poor. People tend to be out for themselves. Not enough family time.

Pros

The paycheck is like free government cheese. You get paid every month.

Cons

Pay is limited and not resonable compared to the private sector. For example: A 20-year, Army Major serving as a Program Manager in the Acquisition Corps makes +/- 75k. A civilian Program Manager will make 160K in the DC Metro area.
