It Ain't For Everyone

Pros

Income guaranteed (except during prolonged government shutdown). Paid training. Paid Time Off (PTO) is top notch.

Cons

"Free" Healthcare is worth every penny as long as you prefer someone else to make your healthcare decisions for you, and it is mandatory for you, but not your family. Military hospitals are mostly training facilities and you are the subject of their learning. Benefits, as described by the Army, are literally counterbalanced by the overdemands on your time. The NCO with 2-3 failed marriages sounds cliche, but it happens more than you expect.
