Pros

I have daily contact with requiring activities and contractors alike. The work is challenging and thoughtful. It requires intense understanding of the business world and federal contracting.

Cons

The federal contracting world is constantly changing, and nearly impossible to keep up the all the top-down contracting changing. GFEBS is a nightmare and removed a large amount of flexibility a Contracting Officer had. An inordinate amount of time is required to allow for data capture, ie. eSRS, FPDS, CMR, GFEBS etc. that I don't even write contracts. I write data capture tools.

Pros

Learn to be a leader. Advance in pay. Change the world. Free babies and benefits. Make America great by getting a college degree and being a part of the most educated work-force in the world.

Cons

There are too many freeloaders. It's hard to maintain focus when so many people's biggest goal in life is to scam the most benefits from our government while never lifting a finger to actually make this a better country.
